The Mount Pleasant Public School music program includes five Concert Band groups: Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grade Concert Bands, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. These groups perform a variety of works from a challenging selection of compositions. The Wind Ensemble is the elite band and is comprised of students invited by the band director based on individual musicianship and the musical composition of the ensemble.
These bands perform a fall, winter and spring concert. All concerts, including Mount Pleasant Middle School bands, are held at the Mount Pleasant High School Performing Arts Center. High school and middle school concerts are separate events.
Concert attire is comprised of a white shirt, black slacks or skirt, and black shoes. The school provides tuxedos for use by students performing in the high school bands, if they choose. Fittings for tuxedos occur approximately the second week of school. Dry cleaning for concert attire is done by the Instrumental Music Boosters and the cost is included in the band fees.
